Next ShinDig Trail Work Day Is Saturday, November 12

The focus of our November ShinDig will be maintenance on the Double Rainbow Trail (also known as Little Rainbow Extension). We’ll meet at the upper CR110 trailhead parking lot, ready to depart for work at 9am. Be there a little early to sign waivers, talk about the work to be done, safety procedure reviews, and coffee drinking. As usual, come prepared with water, gloves, long pants, and sturdy boots. Tools will be provided.

Our free post-work lunch will be sponsored by Absolute Bikes and will take place out behind the bike shop.

Other Important News

Southern Dreams: Construction has begun on our new Southern Dreams trail! Salida Mountain Trails has contracted Tony Boone to build the latest and greatest addition to our trail system. Weather permitting, we hope the new trail to be done around the end of November. Please stay off the trail until it’s finished, as riding on the very dry, loose soil can cause significant damage. Don’t worry, we’ll get to pedal it soon!

Membership: Did you miss our annual membership party? Don’t worry, you can still become an SMT member or renew your membership conveniently online, on our membership page! Enjoy all the great benefits of being a member (above and beyond helping out our local trail system) like discounts at all of our local bike shops (Absolute Bikes, Salida Bike Company, Subculture Cyclery), Salida Mountain Sports, and more!

Boathouse and River’s Edge Contributions: $8,500 FOR TRAIL CONSTRUCTION IN JULY AND AUGUST!!! The Boathouse Cantina and River’s Edge Bar & Restaurant have created a voluntary one-percent donation program (from all of their sales) to benefit Salida Mountain Trails’ trail construction efforts. This has allowed SMT to contract professional trail building services that would not otherwise be possible! Show your thanks by stopping by the boathouse for a beer/bite after your ride!

Trail Building Scholarship: American Trails is offering a scholarship for a 21-25 year old to attend the 23rd International Trails Symposium to be held in Dayton, Ohio, May 7-10, 2017. The deadline for application is December 1st.
