Survey: How should Salida use 100 acres of open space?

Salida is starting a plan to develop the South Ark Neighborhood (the former Vandaveer Ranch), with goals to “provide passive and active recreation opportunities and new housing options.” Community input will shape how the 100-acre parcel is developed. Make your voice heard by taking the city’s survey!

When it comes to trails in this project, we encourage you to mention the importance of connecting town to trails, and trails to each other. As one example, we’d love to have a designated route from town to the Burmac trailhead. The survey closes February 15th.

Recent trail maintenance

Last month, we installed a new metal kiosk and map at the North Backbone trailhead, replacing the old wooden frame that splintered earlier this winter. Wayfinding signage like this supports good trail experiences, especially for new users. Big thanks to Trail Stewards Johanna and Fleck for spending a Saturday afternoon with us digging holes in the cold, rocky ground.
