Help us build a bike skills park in Salida!

Salida Mountain Trails (SMT) and the City of Salida are collaborating to develop a public bike skills park as the keystone of the iconic Arkansas Hills Trail System. Once complete, the park will provide the first public, directional, bike-only trails in Chaffee County.

The skills park will feature three downhill lines (beginner, intermediate, and intermediate/advanced) with optional features to support progressive skills development. Kids and beginner mountain bikers will be the primary beneficiaries, as the park will be geared mostly toward skill development. However, the park will also provide a unique opportunity for more experienced riders looking to catch some air. This project will also clean up what is currently an eyesore of weeds and scrap metal at the base of Tenderfoot Mountain, transforming the trailhead into a true hub for the Arkansas Hills Trails.

SMT is seeking to raise $55,000 to supplement funding from Salida Parks and Recreation. Funds will be used for construction costs and materials to build sensational, sustainable features. We hope to break ground on the project in Fall 2024.

Thanks to a generous local donor, and grants from the Salida Sunrise Rotary and Monarch Community Outreach, we’re kicking off the campaign nearly halfway to our goal. Donate today to help us realize the full vision for this incredible amenity in our community!

Any funds raised above and beyond what’s needed for the skills park will go into SMT’s general fund, to be used for trail construction and maintenance.
