SMT is replacing the March ShinDig with a request for volunteers for the annual Run Through Time running event.  The Chaffee County Running Club is recruiting volunteers for the Run Through Time, the club’s flagship marathon, half marathon and 2-mile race. The event, held on March 15, 2014 in Salida, is in its ninth year and promises to be a sellout, with 200 competitors each in the marathon and half marathon. The course follows dirt/jeep roads and narrow, hilly singletrack between 7,000-9,000 feet in and around the Arkansas Hills Trail System.

Volunteers are needed on both Friday and Saturday for the following positions: pre-race dinner (Friday), on-course aid stations, registration, course marshals, timing, starting line/finish line set up, & clean-up crew. Volunteers receive a free entry into the Friday night pasta dinner at the SteamPlant from 6:00-8:30pm, a high-quality race shirt – and much appreciation from the race organizers and athletes.

This event is a major fundraiser for both the Chaffee County Running Club and Salida Mountain Trails. Sponsors include Honey Stinger, Acli-Mate Recovery Drink, Smith Optics, Absolute BIkes, Salida SteamPlant Event Center and Salida Mountain Sports.

To volunteer or get more information about volunteering, contact Race Director Rickie Redland at redlandr@gmail.com – please include a phone number in your email.

SMT encourages you to support the Run Through Time, a quality annual event and primary fundraiser for local trail building.
