It’s that time of year again! We have several seasonal closures in effect for our trail system. These are enacted in order to protect wildlife, and are part of the agreement between SMT and land management agencies (like the US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management) that allow us to build and enjoy these trails.

Methodist Mountain Trail System seasonal closures: December 1 – April 15
Sol Train East & West – above the Powerline Road.
Sun Up Trail – above the Powerline Road.
Pot-O-Gold Trail – near the western end of Double rainbow Trail. (New trail opening next Spring.)
Gutz Trail

Arkansas Hills Trail System closures – December 15 – March 15:
Beasway Trail – This portion of the Cottonwood Trail System Begins at the CR175 and FS181 Trailhead and runs 2.5 miles to the intersection of CR173.
At each of the 5 seasonal closure locations, you will see these same locked gates and same signage. Please respect these closures, as continued access to these trails depend upon how well these closures designed to protect wildlife are followed! Salida Mountain Trails partners with the Royal Gorge BLM Field Office, Salida Ranger District US Forest Service, and Colorado Parks & Wildlife to approve and build trails close to Salida on Public Lands, and we need everyone’s complete cooperation. Again – continued access to existing trails as well as future trail approvals depend upon our track record with this compliance!
