We have an enviably expansive singletrack network here in Salida. Yet with more mileage comes more maintenance. So, Salida Mountain Trails is beefing up our trail stewardship program—and we’re looking for more volunteers to help keep our trails in tip-top shape.

Being a Trail Steward can be as easy as riding/walking a trail of your choice to flag issues. (Tough work, right?) To really expand our capacity though, we’re looking for folks willing to get dirty and eager to get trained in trail maintenance.

You need no prior trail work experience to become a Steward. Our professional trail manager will provide hands-on training for everyone interested in developing knowledge and skills. Some of you may even get to the point where you’re comfortable leading small crews on your own!

How to get involved

Fill out the form below with your name, availability and level of interest. We’ll get back to you soon.

If you want to lift a rake now and again, but don’t want the commitment of stewardship, we can always use more volunteers at monthly ShinDig events. Use the same form below to let us know if you’re interested in that option, too.
