We know you have received many emails during this challenging time due to the COVID-19 virus, so we’ll try to keep this brief…
With a heavy heart, we will be canceling our membership fundraiser event this year. We will plan a smaller event in the fall if the situation allows. If you still wish to donate and/or renew, SMT memberships are still available online at https://salidamountaintrails.org/membership-program/. We will be donating 30% of any membership amounts to the Chaffee County Community Foundation’s Emergency Response Fund now through May 31st.
Salida has a strong sense of community, and that community has supported SMT over the years. We would not have been able to build and/or maintain 50+ miles of trail without the support of many of these businesses (especially our sponsors), this awesome community and your membership/support. It’s now time to give back to our community the same love that has been shown to us. We encourage you to support the many local businesses that are going to be struggling during this epidemic.
Stay safe and healthy!
A Note for Trail Users
Again, we’ll keep it quick!
- If you’re a local trail user, please respect the 6ft social distance rule. Pretend that anyone you encounter at the trailhead is wildly swinging a McLeod Tool around their head like a helicopter. That’s how far away you should be!
- If you’re from outside the Salida region, please do not travel here to ride. Our hospital is small, and much of the population of the town is elderly. Please treat your front door as your trailhead and respect small mountain towns’ extreme needs to keep people healthy.
